About La Cambusa

La Cambusa is in the centre of Stresa on beautiful Lago Maggiore in the North of Italy. A family business with a long tradition in selling quality fine wines, spirits and ‘speciality foods' that only the experienced Italian connoisseur and gourmet can deliver.

Rosaria and Vita Bolla are the owners who as children grew up foraging among the chestnut trees during World War II when food was where you found it! They started their business with a small shop and over the years transformed it into one of the finest wine and speciality food emporiums in the Piemonte area.

Today their children and grandchildren can be found in the store welcoming all ‘guests' with warmth and sincerity . On entering La Cambusa you breathe in the wonderful aromas of Italian spices and speciality foods including delicious hand baked biscuits and chocolates. This Alladin's cave carries the traditional Italian specialities that you simply cannot buy in a supermarket. Gorgeous oils and balsamic vinegars are displayed alongside pretty hand crafted bottles containing wonderful concoctions of liquors including limoncello and grappa for the discerning buyer . Time is taken to explain the history and ingredients of everything and each customer is treated as a friend.

Those connoisseurs who know and understand great Italian wine will be impressed at the selection of wonderful wines that La Cambusa offers at affordable prices. Rosaria also conducts wine tasting for groups of visitors and has done so for Tony Aspler, the 'Wine Guy', and Rick Steves, 'Author and Wine Guru'; both famous for their expertise in fine wine. Such has been the demand for La Cambusa wine in particuar that Rosaria has been requested to ship her produce across the globe. There is no hard sell, what you see is what you get, and ‘quality and taste' are as important as price and customer satisfaction and of course conversation. When in Stresa you will treasure the experience of La Cambusa and I challenge you to come away empty handed.
